Missed Moments

Hi friends,

If my name hasn’t landed in your inbox for a bit—I’m so sorry. A small tech glitch kept some of my recent emails from reaching many of you.

So today, I’m popping in to say hello again 👋 and to share a quick roundup of what you might’ve missed. These past weeks, I’ve written about everything from CPR to cordless phones—and I’d love for you to catch up, especially if one of these topics speaks to where you are right now.

#1 I Got a Landline (Yes, Really)

What happened when I parked my phone from school pickup to bedtime—and modeled healthy tech habits for my kids.

📞 Presence, not perfection.

#2 What Holds It All Together

A bathroom latch, a Sex and the City episode, and a reminder that our relationships deserve care too.

💞 In this post, I also share a Parenting Values Worksheet—a simple but powerful tool from our marriage prep class that helped us define the kind of family culture we want to build.
Whether you’re just starting out or deep in the thick of it, this is one to bookmark.

#3 The Lifesaving Skills Every Person Should Know

A close-to-home emergency reminded me how essential it is to be prepared.
🚑 In this article, I break down key first aid steps every parent should know—with expert input from Sarah, a veteran EMT and mom, who teaches home-based CPR classes.
The info is practical, empowering, and might just save a life.

One more thing – Your Voice Matters

I'm currently working on a research paper aimed at pushing companies to provide better support for women after birth—and I need your help.

If you’ve:

  • Had a baby recently,
  • Returned to paid employment after maternity leave, or
  • Work in HR or leadership...

It would mean so much if you’d take 3 minutes to complete this short survey and share it with any friends who might fit the bill. Every response helps build a stronger case for meaningful, systemic change.

Thank you, truly—for lending your time, your voice, and your story.

Small shifts, lasting impact

Thanks for being here—and for sticking with me even when tech hiccups get in the way. I’m so grateful to share this space with you.

If something in one of these posts resonated (or you try a phone break, or book a first aid course!), I’d love to hear about it.

More soon (& back to regular scheduling),

Erica

P.S. If this landed in your “Promotions” tab or spam, moving it to your main inbox helps make sure you don't miss future mails. 💛

Desk Sign

July 1, 2025 Zero Fucks, Selectively Given If you know me, you might that I don’t need this desk sign. But I do. Because even with a strong sense of self, I still sometimes need the reminder: not everything deserves my energy. Not every voice gets a vote. Last week, I walked barefoot down busiest road in my town, in my speedo. The plan had been a casual first lake swim of the season— but it was gray skies, cold wind, and ocean-sized waves. Still, a friend and I had committed, so we did it. We...

summer is coming

June 15, 2025 Feel More & Do Less This Summer To me, summer has always—and will always—begin when school ends. Not on the solstice. But when the routines get thrown out the window, and suddenly, we’re all juggling 7–12 weeks of entertaining kids and keeping up with work, house stuff, life admin, and everything in between. If you know, you know. I wrote about summer survival last year, sharing 1 tip for you, 1 for your kids and 1 for your family - read it here. But this year—T-minus 2 weeks...

Still, We Run

May 30th, 2025 Still, We Run Some days collapse time. You get news that breaks your heart, and suddenly you're walking the beach with a friend, talking about breastfeeding struggles when your first babies were six months old. That conversation was almost a decade ago. We don’t live in the same city anymore. We haven’t kept in close touch. But she was at my wedding. She was joyful, deeply kind, and magnetic. Last week, she died of cancer. The following morning, I learned that a friend’s...
